They say 60% of girls are attracted to other girls. Aren’t you one of them? Like the majority of women, she has no shame in admitting that she finds other girls attractive. She has even admitted to being open to experiments (‘Sure she would sleep with Halle Berry! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance’). For girls, it’s absolutely acceptable to be a bit bisexually curious (cue every guy’s fantasy), and according to the recent study, it’s the norm.

The recent research reported that girl’s sexual tastes tend to be a gray area (yes, identity confusion wasn’t just for those college days). Actually, scientists at Boise State University discovered that in a group of straight women, 60% were physically attracted to other women, 45% kissed a girl in the past, and 50% had dreams about the same sex intercourse.

She falls into that 60%. Sometimes when she catches herself staring at a pretty girl in the grocery store, she wonders about her own sexuality. She is not supposed to be attracted to women! (At least according to society). Would she date a girl? She isn’t sure, but she is attracted to the beauty of other girls – and they are so much easier to realize what men cannot understand psychologically. We women form deep relationships raised from friendships, which some tell are the basis of love. And personally she believes that emotional connection and physical attraction are bound, for example, men tend to get cuter for us in case they are genuinely nice.

Researchers support that point of view. Elizabeth Morgan, psychology professor, said girls were encouraged to be emotionally close to each other. That gives a chance for intimacy and romantic feelings to develop. From speaking about individual issues for hours to calling each other ‘lovers’ (well, perhaps that’s just girls in her generation), women’s friendships are frequently distinguishable from romantic relationships.

When straight girls hook up with other girls, their relationships are based on an emotional connection. Lisa Diamond from the University of Utah supposes that it only takes the proper person for convince a girl to start a relationship with somebody of the same gender. Does it make them bisexual? Not really. Morgan says, you can still be straight and have experiences, fantasies or interests with the same gender.

Additionally, sexuality gets more, not less, fluid with time. Yet more evidence that experiments aren’t just for college days. In a research held by Diamond, the older woman was, the more likely she was to describe her sexual tastes as unlabeled. She says, we have this idea that sexuality gets more defined and clearer as time goes on. We suppose that a sign of maturity to find out who you are. She has seen it’s actually the opposite.

And for sure, the media has a great role in girl-on-girl attraction, only fueling to fire of our confusion. Not only pop stars like Lady Gaga have made bisexuality widespread, but girls cannot help but ogle pretty women – they are everywhere we look at. If to believe YouBeauty.com, Neuroscientist Ogi Ogas, Ph.D., analyzed tons of Internet information including web searches, erotic sites and e-books, and discovered that girls are just as likely to look for sexy images of Ryan Gosling as sexy photos of Jessica Alba. What can you say about it?

Morgan says, girls in the media are frequently sexualized and girls permanently get the message that appearance should be necessary to them, so they are used to viewing women in a sexual way. She wonders how much of the attraction to other girls is based on appearance and messages from the media, and how much of it unique and authentic. Should we ever make an attempt for distinguishing between them?
